I think you make Pres. Bush's case for why force is neccessary. It is because the Muslim leaders who harbored and supported terrorism did not and will not condemn it. This is his entire premise. Well stated!

Westerners and christians of all ilks have lived in the middle east for thousands of years mostly in peace. Go to most countries over in the middle east and you will see for yourself. Those of us in the know also understand Iraq and all of the other countries the region even under Saddam were very hospitable to westerners. You may have to respect some different customs but you have always been welcome, and that's a fact.
You mean the custom of Shites and Sunnis depositing nearly one hundred mutilated corpes a day for the past few months in the streets of Baghdad. So they are hospitable to Westerners, just not fellow Muslim's?

I think you are asking the muslims to do something that you won't do and that is to condemn Bush and Blair as being what they are, terrorists and war mongers

Bush misjudged the response of the Iraqi people. He didn't anticipate the sectarian issues that has divided Muslim's for thousands of years.
One can make the point that we should leave them to fight amongst themselves. OK
But that doesn't change my initial assertion. If the leaders of the Muslim countries had the intelligence and ability to come together and form a unified front (which they will never do in my opinion), they would seek to convert the rest of the world by force.

I can partially agree but if you check all of the early posts, they were mostly one liners, with mocking, derogatory and inflamatory remarks about Islam, and my getting in was to balance the scales somewhat.

Once you switch to talking about governments, then what becomes important is what the leaders in power believe, not the individuals. The people of Iran have always been thought to be progressive, modern and moderate, but they are not the ones in power There is instability inherent in most Muslim governments and the likely succesors are either Military Coups or religious fundamentalists who believe that Islam should be spread throughout the world. Power in the wrong hands is always dangerous.
Fortunately in Democracy's the people have the ability to vote and effect change. Bush is not president for life unlike some Muslim countries leaders. I don't agree with all of his methods, however I believe he is right in asserting that Muslim countries run by former military leaders or fundamentalists pose a threat to the rest of the world.

America is not the most hated nation in the world. Bush is probably the most hated person in America, but any intelligent person outside the states does not link one with the other.

Would Islam take over the west if they had all of the bombs? Maybe, but I don't know if the manufacturers of the bombs and planes and weapons would sell them to the Muslims, unless of course they agreed to use them on who we told them to.
That was my point. You were the one that brought up how everyone else except the Muslins caused all the major wars for the last 100 years. The point I made and you confirm is that the Muslin countries would if they had the power. They can't and won't become superpowers because they lack the intelligence and cohesiveness to come together as one group.
I must repeat, in my "OPINION", the as a whole Muslims don't hate the west, they hate invaders from the west.
This not require a brain surgeon to figure out. You may go one step further and say that most of the world and many Europeans and especially Germans (I've spent much time there as a civilian contractor with the US Army), disapprove of our President but like Americans as a whole. Unfortunately moderate Muslims do not run Muslim countries, nor are they likely to in the future.
I will close with naming a few countries (not groups) that we now deal with and I want you to tell me which one came to the west with armed forces and attacked initiating a war with us:
Syria, Jordan and Egypt attacked Israel, unfortunately for them their ineptness prevented them from succeeding. Israel is a country of less than 10M surrounded by Arab countries consisting of 225M people.
The US had to step in and liberate Kuwait because the Muslim countries in the area could not stand up to Saddam.
The Muslim countries are weak militarily, lack intelligence and unity. If they could they would take over the world. I am gald to see that you don't fight me on this assertion. I'm glad you don't present yourself as a moderate.

I never called him a bad person, I merely noted that most Muslim countries are run by former military generals who have taken power by force or fundamentalist regimes, and that this pattern is unlikely to change.
